Carns and Valleys

– Route Set By Timmo –

Robbie’s bust his hand, so instead of his ride this week we’re going for a spin with Timmo. Starting from Illogan we’ll climb up Carn Brea then across to Carn Marth, down to Wheal Maid, have a quick run through Ridgeracer and along the valley, hit the berms in Unity woods, then wind back through Wheal Peevor, Cambrose, and finish up Bridge Hill. A good mix of riding for a Sunday morning!

Directions

Postcode TR16 4ER. Park at Homecroft Surgery, Illogan
Take the Redruth (Avers) junction off the A30, and head north signposted Portreath and Porthtowan. After half a mile turn left at the crossroads signposted Portreath. At the next crossroads head straight across and follow this for a mile and a bit into Illogan. Homecroft Surgery is on the right once you’re amongst the houses, a bit after the brow of the hill.

Be afraid ... be very afraid!

About Cornwall MTB

The Club is located around the Central/Truro area in Cornwall and we love Mountain Biking. We ride at various locations throughout the county and the routes are set by a different group member each week.  We usually meet on a Sunday (occasionally a Saturday) and the upcoming rides are always listed here our site.

Each ride is graded between 1 and 5 and many of the rides are suitable for all abilities. However, please bear in mind that each ride is likely to have some variety, and the difficulty level can be subjective. Here’s a general guide to help you decide if a ride is suitable or not:

  • 1 - Smooth and flatish
  • 2 - General bridleways
  • 3 - Trail riding, with occasional steep, rocky or rooty sections
  • 4 - More technical trail riding with plenty of steep, rocky or rooty sections
  • 5 - Relentless steep downhills or general exposed technical riding
If you have any questions about the club, then feel free to send us an email. You can also find us on Facebook where you’ll get plenty of up to date information and friendly banter! Details of membership can be found on the Club Info page.
